Source & Spirit
Qi Gong afternoon workshop with Chris McAlister Jerusalem, 09 July 2019
[לגרסה בעברית - לחצו כאן]
Every year, in July, Chris McAlister comes to Israel!
As has become customary in the past few years, this year he will also give two short Qi Gong workshops in Jerusalem. One in the afternoon, and one in the morning.
The theme of this year's Jerusalem afternoon workshop is: "Source & Spirit".
The meeting of Fire and Water creates the fundamental conditions for human life: Spirit thereby meets Source.
The Fire of the Heart is responsible for our spiritual wellbeing, our search for completion and a return to spiritual wholeness. The Kidney Water provides the physical form in which to do this safely here on earth.
In this workshop we will be working with two forms -
'Kidney Qi Returns to Source' - a traditional meditative form - relating to Water,
and 'Cherokee Sundance' - a form from the Indians of the Cherokee tribe - relating to Fire.
More about this, in the description written by Chris, at the end of the text.
For those who still haven't experienced working with Chris - Chris is a wonderful teacher, that brings an abundance of depth into the practice of Qi Gong. The open, warm and personal meeting, and the pleasant guidance, enhance the possibility to experience the internal flow while practicing.
This workshop is intended both for newer and for more experienced participants!
We would be happy if you share the information with other people who might be interested.

In Chris's words:
Source and Spirit
The meeting of Fire and Water creates the fundamental conditions for human life: Spirit thereby meets Source.
The Fire of the Heart is responsible for our spiritual wellbeing, our search for completion and a return to spiritual wholeness. The Kidney Water provides the physical form in which to do this safely here on earth.
Together they combine to create our deepest drive and our highest intelligence;
the connection to our divine being and the ability to root down into life in a physical body on earth and stay with it until the end.
Kidney Qi Returns to Source
The movements of this traditional standing qi gong form are designed to strengthen the deep structures of physical and mental health, thereby increasing longevity. One cannot overstate the importance of Kidney qi in Oriental medicine; this qigong form works to bring the kidney qi back to the Source with renewed vitality.
Cherokee Sundance
This is something very unusual in the world of Qigong and Taiji. Although its movements are clearly recognisable, it comes not from the East but from the West. As its name implies, it is a traditional practice originated by the Cherokee Indians of North America and is usually experienced as very mildly ecstatic prayer in motion.
